Color Choices That Communicate
Our color choices—green for communication and blue for utility—aren't just aesthetic. They're chosen for their calming effects, ease of recognition, and their ability to enhance readability without causing visual strain, aligning with recommendations from the National Eye Institute and principles found in WCAG 2.1 guidelines for contrast and legibility. This ensures our tags are accessible to users with vision impairments, including seniors experiencing reduced contrast sensitivity.
Typography That Talks
Clarity in text is important. The Bold Recoleta Alt font is chosen for its legibility, addressing the changing eyesight of senior users. Simple, easy-to-read typefaces and generous text sizes help prevent frustration and facilitate understanding. Our design decisions for the TapTec tag drew heavily on resources like Eleken's insights on UX design for seniors, ensuring our products are tailored to the unique needs and preferences of elderly users.
Design for Convenience
Our tags feature a keychain hole and are backed with solid aluminum, catering to the daily needs of seniors for practical and durable solutions. They are also water and sun resistant so the colors won't fade with long-term use.
Incorporating Tangibility
The significance of tangibility in technology, especially for the elderly, cannot be overstated. As digital interfaces become more prevalent, the tactile feedback and physical interaction with devices become crucial for user satisfaction and accessibility. TapTec addresses this need by providing a tangible interface for iPhones, allowing seniors to interact with their devices more naturally and comfortably.
Assistive technologies, including those like TapTec that offer tangible interaction, play a vital role in improving the care and independence of elderly individuals. The adoption of such technologies can enhance safety, security, and the ability to manage daily tasks at home, making a considerable contribution to the quality of life for seniors.
This focus on tangible interaction is not just about maintaining familiarity but also about leveraging the benefits of physical touch in technology use. Tactile feedback can help in reducing cognitive load, making technology more accessible and easier to navigate for seniors who may face challenges with purely digital interfaces.
Our intuitive designs, underpinned by deep research, aim to boost confidence and connectivity for seniors. Discover the inspiration and applications behind TapTec on our About page.
